When raising children, you hope and pray that they are "getting it"... between the laughing, crying, fighting, running, jumping, squealing, etc... etc... you hope that they are learning love, empathy, & compassion for others. Jaycie has a treasured dinner bell... at Memommy & Papa's house, they have a little glass bell that the kids LOVE to ring before dinner. Well, when Jaycie was in the mountains visiting them over the summer... she told Memommy that she wished she could have her very own dinner bell... and Memommy found the perfect one for Jaycie. It was a little white bell... that sat on our kitchen counter... and Jaycie faithfully rang it every night before dinner... also giving her brother and sisters a turn. Well... we knew it would happen at some point... tonight when she handed it to Jacob, he accidentally dropped it on the floor and it shattered. Tears were shed... and shed... and shed... we will look for another dinner bell... but that was her favorite... we will find another favorite. Jacob just stood there in shock... after we cleaned everything up... Jaycie was still crying and Jacob said the sweetest words... "Jaycie, you can wipe your tears with my blankie..." and he handed her his TREASURED blue tag blankie. It melted my heart... Jaycie stopped crying... Jingle has good news to share with Santa tonight...
