OUR TERRIFIC KID!

Jaycie is the Terrific Kid in her class this month! She was SO excited! They have a ceremony to recognize the Terrific Kids at school and receive an award from the principal. Afterwards, I was telling her how proud we are of her... and that we think she is a terrific kid always at home... I was leaving to go out of town and told her "Bye, bye Terrific Kid!"... she replied, "Bye, bye Terrific Mom!" What a sweetie pie!!!

Our 1st BIG Campout!

We finally did it... took all the kids camping! James & I went often before we had kids... and several times with Jessica & Jaycie... but when Jamie & Jacob came along, camping went out the door... mostly because we would not all fit in our tent! Well, we have a new tent (thanks, Mom & Jim!) And it was PERFECT! We went with our neighbors (we are so very lucky to have such awesome neighbors!)... and we all had a wonderful time. We didn't venture too far from home, only about 45 minutes... "just in case!" The weather forecast did not look good... it called for rain all weekend, but we didn't get a drop! Our tent worked perfectly... in the tent, we had 4 twin air mattresses, a king air mattress, 4 plastic tubs w/clothes, 2 fans, the dog (Baron only), and a little room left over! We had the campground to ourselves, except one camper that came the 2nd night. We took the kids' bikes, they played kickball & bocce ball, we took the kids fishing, cooked a big breakfast each morning, ate smores, went on a hike, took the kids to the nature discovery center, did the canopy walk in the trees, and had a great time! The kids were asking when we would go again... before we even got home! We will definitely go camping again... and venture farther away!

Canoeing & Kayaking!

I took Jessica & Jaycie canoeing and kayaking with a group of kids from our church. All of the kids had so much fun... we did the canoes first & did a tour around the lake. When we got back to shore, we let all the kids take turns in the kayaks. Jessica has kayaked before and took off. This was Jaycie's first time... I wasn't sure if she could control the kayak. Well, I was wrong! She did awesome... took off and had perfect control... & was able to turn around w/o a problem! I have video of it... but apparently it is too large for me to upload...

Fun Stuff

Sprinkler soccer... we should have done this sooner in the summer... water the grass & wear out the kids at the same time! They LOVED it!

3K Preschool!

After Labor Day, Jamie & Jacob started preschool again! They were very excited to go back, especially since the girls have been in school several weeks. They did not understand why they could not go back and have the same teacher... but after they met Mrs. Thompson, they were happy to be in a new class. They are going on MWF mornings and they really love it! They have such a cute class this year!!!

Pig Pickin'

We had an awesome time at the Scott's annual pig pickin'! We spent a quick weekend in NC w/friends... it was so great to see all of you!!! The kids LOVE to see their friends! And the laughs were as good as always!

Painting!

The twins went to stay with Dad & Ann for a week when the girls started school! This was their first week away - they had the greatest time! While they were gone and the girls were in school, I painted the last coat in the dining room, painted the playroom, and painted the twins' bedroom. It used to be sunshine yellow... now it is blue! They loved it when they came home!!

Back To School

I have gotten very behind on my blog... so better late than never, right? Jessica & Jaycie started school in mid-August and love it. Jessica is in 4th grade, Jaycie is in 1st. Hunter, our neighbor, started kindergarten this year! Here are a few pics from the first day!
