March has been busy around our house... and it is only going to get more crazy in April! We started the month with a trip to the zoo to celebrate Hunter's birthday! The 3 week old giraffe was the highlight for me & Jessica... we watched him for a LONG time!

The twins had a field trip to see the Tortoise and the Hare... we had a great time! Jacob & Grace (his cute little redhead "girl" friend) were happy to pose at the end for a picture with the wolf (Jamie did NOT like the wolf). Jamie loved Henrietta the Hare. Of course, the bus ride was probably their favorite part!

Thankfully, we have had a few warm evenings where we can enjoy our fire pit again! Our first fire of the season was the night before the first day of Spring! We are so ready for warm, DRY weather! Hunter, Troy, Margie, Allie, & Melanie (neighbors) all came over for s'mores!

Unfortunately, along with the warmer weather... come the deer. A doe ran into the passenger side of James' truck on his way to work one morning. He had a friend riding on that side... fortunately, the guys were fine. The deer and the truck... not so much. Damage... $2000... ugh. Thank goodness for insurance.
Jessica was the terrific kid for her class this month!!! We think she is a terrific kid every month! We are very proud of the amazing person she is! If we could share her compassion, the world would be a wonderful place!
There was a race here in town... you could sign up for the 10K, 5K, 1 mile fun walk, or the pet walk! Jessica & Raymond signed up for the pet walk! They came in 3rd place! She was so excited to do the pet walk and spent a lot of time practicing with him on a leash. They did awesome! I signed up for the 10K... and SURPRISINGLY came in 2nd place for my age division. Allyson was 1st for our age group and Leslie placed 1st for her age group (way to go, girls!) The next weekend... we all did the Cooper River Bridge Run (10K) in Charleston. This was our (me & James) 2nd year... we both improved our times from last year. I love this race... and will definitely do it again next year! Didn't take any pictures this year during the CRBR... didn't take my camera (shocking to many of you, I know).
James & the kids gave me a balloon bouquet after my 10K! It was my first race that the kids watched me finish... I absolutely LOVED having them cheer me on at the finish line... absolutely made my day!

Now it is Spring Break for us... a much needed break! The kids & I are in the NC mountains... relaxing. This is the calm before the storm for us... as I have accepted a part time position (20 hrs/week) doing technical writing at GE. I am excited and nervous! The hardest transition will be for the twins as they are starting a new preschool with longer hours in April. Say a prayer for all of us that this change is good for us!
